Senior Scientist/Principal Scientist, Protein Chemistry – Large Molecule Drug Discovery

Description

We are seeking a talented Scientist/ Senior Scientist to join the Department of Protein Chemistry – Large Molecule Drug Discovery at Genentech. We are looking for a candidate to build oligonucleotide therapeutics discovery capabilities within the research drug discovery pipeline at Genentech. The candidate must have a proven record of accomplishments in antisense oligonucleotides, RNAi, or microRNA discovery and the ability to build and champion this therapeutic modality within the research organization at Genentech. Experience in delivery of oligonucleotide therapeutics, large molecule drug discovery, or bioconjugation would be preferred. Experience in early development of oligonucleotide therapeutics is highly desired. The candidate will lead a research lab and interface across different therapeutic areas, including neuroscience, immunology and oncology, to help build a comprehensive therapeutic discovery strategy. The position requires effective participation in multidisciplinary teams with biology, in vivo pharmacology, assay development and safety assessment scientists. The candidate will be expected to function as molecule and project team lead on pipeline projects and exceptionally strong leadership and communications skills will be essential for this position.

Requirements:

The qualified individual will possess a Ph.D. in a biological science with at least 2-8 years of relevant experience in academia, biotechnology and/or pharmaceutical industry and possess a record of accomplishments and publications in a relevant scientific discipline. The position requires a track record in oligonucleotide therapeutics discovery and hands-on working knowledge of oligonucleotide chemistry. Relevant experience in protein engineering, structural biology, or biochemistry is desirable. The candidate will have experience in drug discovery and development, as well as a deep commitment to working as part of teams to deliver breakthrough medicines. Job level will be based on prior experience and accomplishment.
