If so, the Director, Project Management - Oncology Disease Strategy Teams (Oncology DASTs) is an excellent opportunity to explore. GSK is expanding the Oncology Clinical Development organization and we are seeking experienced professionals to join our exciting journey. We develop potentially life-changing oncology therapies with a focus in four areas of cancer research: Immuno-Oncology, Tumor Cell Targeting Research, Cell and Gene Therapy and Synthetic Lethality. The Director, Project Management will be closely working with the Disease Area Strategy Team (DAST) leader(s) and core members of the DAST to ensure timely and coordinated development (or updates) of respective GSK Disease Strategy projects, including tracking of proper execution of all key elements and action items identified within individual projects. In this capacity, the Director will be a core member of the individual Disease Strategy Teams, with shared responsibility (together with the DAST Lead(s)) for the proper planning, conduct, follow up and communication of DAST meetings or cross-functional team meetings related Disease Strategy work. The Director will be also responsible for the documentation, storage and system build up to allow all relevant GSK stakeholders and functions to access Disease Area information as needed and in line with GSK policies. The Director will furthermore closely work with the GSK Project Management Functions (R&D), PMs of relevant Medicines Development Teams (MDTs), Early Development Teams (EDTs), stakeholder in Medical Affairs, Business Development as well as with key Commercial Functions to ensure strong communication with asset teams, coordinated, aligned and efficient joint project work. This work includes at the creation and regular updates of Disease Strategy documents (for example, Disease Area Opportunity/Therapeutic Landscape Maps, Efficacy benchmarks by tumor indication and stage, Business Development Screens for defined Mode of Actions/Tumor types), coordination of governance presentations where DAST input is needed and preparation, conduct, follow up of other management meetings. Additionally, the Director will monitor and control the execution of the Disease Area focused plans through their lifecycle while identifying and communicating issues and risks and developing mitigation plans. This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career, these responsibilities include some of the following: Job Responsibilities: Disease Area Strategy Plan or Disease Area Opportunity Map: Preparation, Management, Maintenance, Monitoring, and Alignment and Communication. Works with the DAST Leader(s) and DAST Team to establish alignment across functions and Medicine Development Teams, Medical Affairs and Commercial Teams on unmet needs, sizing of potential treatment populations, current and emerging treatment landscapes, current and anticipated future efficacy/safety benchmarks, portfolio gaps/opportunities. Partner with Program Manager in Clinical Development, MDTs, EDTs and other stakeholder to cross-link different asset or program driven (R & D or Commercial) teams to support alignment on key assumptions about changing treatment algorithm and unmet medical needs in oncology indications. Track execution of key deliverables relevant to integrated DAS projects. Together with the DAST Leader(s), translate results of Disease workshop and other project outputs into clear, specific, well condensed scientific/commercial information packages that do support key stakeholder within the Disease Area Oncology. This output may include robust plans of key cross-functional activities and milestones and as needed and appropriate, with clear go/no go decision points, critical path and sub-functional plans. Support external vendor selection process (for strategic topics, workshops etc.) as needed and work closely with potential vendor(s) on project work to support timely delivery of (vendor) tasks/action items. Proactively identifies and escalates business issues and considers options to manage implications and risks on project timelines, budgets and goals. Monitors progress against approved DAS projects, workshop outputs, noting deviations and suggesting corrective actions. Building up of source systems and systems that allow DAST stakeholder and relevant GSK functions to access DAST information as needed and in line with GSK policies Ensures source systems reflect the current DAS information, core information documents and assumptions to enable integrated planning across the organization Leads preparation of documents including detailed reports, timelines, and slide decks for key governance meetings, cross functional workshops and alignment meetings. Assists in preparing strategic scenario analyses to achieve time or resource advantages Resource Management: Identifies and manages project resource requirements and anticipated variability (people, time, cost, risk) and works with DAST Leader(s) and/or Project Leader(s) to ensure estimates are accurate, gaps are addressed, and progress tracked. Designs and develops schedule and views and adheres to business rules. Team Operations: Provides operational leadership of Disease Area Teams or designated Project Teams related to Disease Work by overseeing strategy execution. Manages program and/or working group-level team meetings. Ensures effective team function including team meetings have structure and purpose including agendas and pre-work, Documents clear decisions/actions (minutes) that are communicated to team members and stakeholders Identifies resource requirements and suggests ways to fill gaps within matrix teams or resourcing gaps to support external (vendor) support. Integrates compliance requirements into team operations. Takes action to maintain effective dynamics and creating optimal team performance. Communication: Utilizes effective communication skills to facilitate appropriate information exchange between Oncology MDT, EDT PMs, Functional Lines, DAST Leaders, DAST Teams and senior management - ensuring alignment and transparency across the respective Disease Area (s). Ensures project information is quickly communicated to the appropriate stakeholders, in an agreed medium, sequence and in compliance with approved standards. Summarizes and communicates workshop outputs in concise documents (Word or Power point) that can be used by asset teams and/or for top management presentations. Process/Capabilities/Quality: Continuously enhances personal understanding and application of program management tools and methodologies in the pharmaceutical industry and other industries Participates in process improvement initiatives and brings in external perspective and industry standard practices Performs project data analyses and reporting, as needed Conduct periodic health checks to ensure quality of project planning and control. Basic Qualifications: 10+ years pharmaceutical R&D or related industry experience Undergraduate degree / advanced degree in life science or business Strong professional track record and knowledge in the Oncology disease setting is a “must” Direct experience in biopharmaceutical Program Planning required Experience supporting Product Teams (R&D and/ or Commercial Functions) in developing or commercializing cancer medicines/cancer treatments. Preferred Qualifications: PMP certification a plus Advanced science or medical degree is a plus Basic knowledge of multi-disciplinary biopharmaceutical drug development required, Oncology development experience with both small-molecule and biologics desired. Experience in working on cross-functional projects, managing input from multiple R&D, Commercial and Medical Affairs Functions. Exceptional computer proficiency - advanced knowledge of MS-Office applications required (including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Project). Ability to effectively manage multiple projects with competing priorities. Recognized leader who exhibits effective communication, EQ, influencing skills, within Matrix Teams. Prior working experience on projects related to Clinical Development Strategies, Medical Affairs, Commercial or Business Development projects (in Oncology) is desired. Strong experience with MS Project, MS Teams. Excellent MS Power point and MS Excel capabilities/knowledge. Risk, budget and resource management. Why GSK?
