ROLE SUMMARY

The Pfizer Inflammation & Immunology (I&I) research unit aims to develop novel therapeutics to treat autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. The successful candidate for this position will conduct pharmacology studies using in vivo animal models, ex vivo sample analysis and in vitro assays. The position is based in Kendall Square, Cambridge, MA .

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plan and conduct of in vivo studies in support of Inflammation & Immunology therapeutic portfolio
  • Formulation of compounds and administration of drugs and experimental compounds by various routes
  • Collection of blood and various tissues
  • Scoring of study animals
  • Ability to learn and conduct other animal-related techniques
  • Ex vivo assays and analysis of animal samples
  • Maintaining well-organized records and documentation
  • Data entry and analysis


QUALIFICATIONS

Must-Have
  • B.Sc. degree in physiology, pharmacology, or related biological science with +3 years of experience
  • Experience working with small laboratory animals
  • Well established hands-on experience with rodent in vivo dosing and handling techniques
  • Experience in tissue dissection and tissue preparation for histology, RNA, and protein analysis
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques such as ELISA, FACS, TLDA and RT-PCR, CBA or Luminex assays
  • Analyzing and presenting data to individuals and in group settings


Nice-to-Have
  • Experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical environment
  • Understanding of immunology or cell biology
  • Experience with animal models of autoimmunity and/or inflammation


PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must be able to wear PPE (safety shoes/glasses/etc), mask, or respirator in the vivarium
  • Must be able to wear mask where necessary per Site policy
  • Must not have animal allergies


NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
  • Weekend work may be required
