What You Will Achieve

Pfizer Cancer Immunology Discovery (CID) is within the Oncology division of Pfizer Worldwide Research & Development in La Jolla, CA. CID is dedicated to developing new protein and small molecule therapeutics to improve human life by redirecting the immune system against cancer. CID researchers apply the latest scientific knowledge and novel approaches to discover truly innovative Immuno-Oncology therapeutics. We are seeking a qualified candidate to join us at a Scientist level (BS/MS) within the Tumor Immunogenicity CID group.

How You Will Achieve It
  • Execution of cell-based functional and biochemical assays to select candidate molecules for clinical development or support combination strategies
  • Planning, e stablishing and executing functional and biochemical assays using a broad range of technologies such as multi-color flow cytometry, MSD, Incucyte cell imaging, primary cell cultures
  • Analyze, organize, and present results in small and large group meetings
  • Read relevant scientific literature to aid in experimental design


Qualifications

Must-Have
  • B.S. degree with 6+ years' experience or M.S. degree with 5+ years' experience.
  • Experience in the fields of immunology, tumor biology and cell biology.
  • Ability to plan and execute and in vitro and/or in vivo/ex vivo experiments with minimal supervision
  • Experience with flow cytometry, qRT-PCR, MSD, mouse tumor isolations, Nano string and cytotoxic assays
  • Technical expertise with immune cell-based functional assays (e.g. activation, differentiation, proliferation, and suppression assays by using monocyte/ macrophages, T-cells, or dendritic cells)
  • Immune phenotyping tumor associated immune cells from primary human tumor samples by flow cytometry
  • Excellent organization and planning skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment independently or as part of a team, good verbal and written communication, and strong motivation with a dedicated work ethic


Nice-to-Have
  • Experience in CRISPR technology and lentiviral transduction
  • Experience with various murine tumor and/or infectious disease models
  • Experience with human PBMC and mammalian cell culture


PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Standing, sitting, bending, lifting, walking in a laboratory or vivarium setting.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in a BSL-2 laboratory; additional PPE requirements when working in vivarium barrier suites.
  • Standard business office conditions; sitting, standing as appropriate
