We are seeking a highly motivated Sr. Research Associate to support our internal research efforts to develop new therapeutics for herpesvirus infections.

Essential Duties

  • Optimize and carry out various cell-based virology assays for discovery and preclinical evaluation of antiviral therapeutics, including biologics and small molecules
  • Plan and execute assigned experiments that support research activities and project goals
  • Interpret results, proactively troubleshoot technical issues, and recommend potential solutions based on personal observations and/or literature searches
  • Select appropriate methods and techniques in performing experiments
  • Participate in cross-functional group meetings and present results
  • Work closely with senior personnel as well as independently


Knowledge, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Virology, Cell Biology, or related life science discipline with BS and 4 years or MS and 2 years of working experience in academics or biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry
  • Excellent technical skills in mammalian cell culture, including development and optimization of cell-based assays
  • Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, including qPCR and cloning
  • Experience in flow cytometry and cell imaging techniques is highly preferred
  • Experience in virology techniques is preferred.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot and optimize assays, as well as aptitude to learn and apply new techniques as necessary
  • Must think critically and creatively and be able to work independently, determine appropriate resources for resolution of problems and have strong organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills
  • Teamwork and meticulous recordkeeping are essential
