Successful faculty candidates will be expected to synergize with faculty and staff in existing Programs to foster Texas Biomed’s efforts to become national / international leaders in infectious disease research, including research on susceptible populations. Texas Biomed is a free standing, private nonprofit research institute. It supports BSL2, BSL3 and BSL4 programs with unparalleled resources, and is the host institution of the Southwest National Primate Research Center (SNPRC), one of the seven National Primate Research Centers supported by NIH in the U.S.

Texas Biomed has a robust relationship with industry partners in diagnostics, therapeutics and vaccines and supports a faculty track in Contract Research. The institute seeks to recruit faculty at any rank in the translational/contract research arm of the institute. Expectations for faculty are preparing and submitting applications for RFPs, interacting with funding agencies to expand the Institute’s contract research footprint, developing contract study scope, performing research, preparing scientific reports, and working within the guidelines of regulated studies (QA/QC). Expertise can include prior research or contract studies using a variety of animal models (non-human primates, rodents, etc.), in vitro models, and/or a variety of infectious agents including select agents. Opportunities to develop or maintain an independent research program in parallel are available and encouraged.

Qualifications: Ph.D. M.D. and/or DVM in a Biological Sciences specialty. Demonstrated research productivity and evidence of an independently-funded research or contract research program.  Experience working with interdisciplinary research teams and mentoring members of underrepresented groups.

Applicants should include: (1) Curriculum vitae, (2) a summary of past and present research accomplishments highlighting their relevance to one or more of the three Texas Biomed Scientific Programs, (3) a summary of future research plans, and (4) names and emails of at least three professional references.  Review of applications will continue until the position is filled.

Inquiries may be directed to the chairs of the search committee, Dr. Ricardo Carrion Jr (rcarrion@txbiomed.org) and/or Dr. Shelley Cole (scole@txbiomed.org).

Commitment to Increasing Diversity in Science: Texas Biomed hires according to its values of Teamwork, Integrity, Diversity, Excellence, and Safety (TIDES) and is highly committed to establishing a culturally and intellectually diverse environment.
