If so, this Investigator, Immuno-Oncology opportunity could be an exciting opportunity to consider. The Immuno-Oncology & Combinations Research Unit (IOC RU) is seeking a highly motivated scientist with expertise in B cell immunology to join the team as an Investigator. The successful candidate will design, lead and deliver biological work packages to support the identification, validation and progression of novel targets. As a strong lab-based immunologist, you will be responsible for leading, designing and executing on immune cell-based assays that recapitulate disease-relevant biology, with a particular focus on targets that modulate the role of B cells in tumors. The successful candidate will also perform small scale CRISPR/Cas9 editing in primary immune cells and cell lines to answer key biological questions and validate novel targets. This is an exciting role that will allow the successful candidate to have a critical contribution to our efforts to identify novel drug target opportunities for immuno-oncology at GSK. The Investigator will need to be a creative, innovative self-starter, with excellent verbal and written communication skills, and a desire to lead from the lab. You will be accountable for generating high quality, robust data and must have an ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary matrix team. Additionally, the successful candidate will need to be proactive, open to the ideas of others and have a deep curiosity and enthusiasm for learning novel approaches and techniques. Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: PhD (or equivalent experience) in immunology. 3+ years' experience in the field of immunology/immuno-oncology, with a focus in B cell biology. Immune cell assay development experience. Expertise in characterizing immune cell function by phenotypic and functional assays, such as multi-color flow cytometry. Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Prior experience leading target validation and/or therapeutic programmes in the B cell space. Track record of independent thinking and problem-solving. Strong communication skills. Ability to lead from the bench and to work in a team to achieve group objectives. Experience of small-scale gene editing/gene silencing/transfections (e.g. nucleofection) in primary immune cells. Bioinformatics experience e.g. interrogating scRNAseq datasets. Experience of using CRISPR/Cas9 for gene editing would be advantageous. Experience of matrix supervision of more junior scientists. Why GSK?
