Applications are invited for a full-time post-doctoral research associate in plant cell biology research at Skidmore College in the laboratory of David Domozych.  A grant from the National Science Foundation will support research on the cell biology of zygnematophycean green algae, cell wall biosynthesis and plant evolution, and will also provide opportunities to gain experience for a career at a primarily undergraduate institution (PUI) through teaching opportunities and mentorship.  Skidmore College is a PUI with outstanding facilities for life science research and teaching located in Saratoga Springs, NY. The initial appointment is for one year with the opportunity of renewal for two additional years.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD in plant/algal cell biology or plant biology
  • Significant experience with confocal laser scanning microscopy, electron microscopy, ultramicrotomy, immunolabeling and cell culture
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Solid background in molecular biology and tomography
  • Experience collaborating with domestic and international laboratories
