The Department of Biochemistry at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine Basic Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor as part of the Destination Vanderbilt faculty hiring initiative. We seek candidates who are using innovative approaches to address important and challenging problems in all aspects of biology at the molecular and mechanistic level.
The candidate will be expected to develop an independent research program that compliments current departmental and institution strengths, which include genome maintenance, cancer biology, structural biology, mass spectrometry, enzymology, signal transduction, toxicology, drug discovery, host-microbe interactions, and neurobiology.
The successful candidate will join a vibrant and diverse research community. The Biochemistry department is consistently positioned in the top tier for NIH funding among all US medical schools. Our exceptional faculty have received considerable recognition, including receipt of major University awards, election to the National Academy of Sciences, and a Nobel Prize in Physiology or
Medicine (Stanley Cohen, 1986). We are proud of our history and strive towards continued excellence in research, training, and service in the fi eld of biochemistry.
Incoming faculty will have a supportive peer group and extensive mentoring. Biochemistry is part of the Basic Sciences within the School of Medicine at Vanderbilt University. Trainees in the appointee’s lab also may be eligible for stipend support from over 25 NIH-supported T32 training programs.
