The Department of Biological and Health Sciences at Wheaton College (IL) seeks candidates for a one-semester appointment as a full-time Visiting Genetics Lecturer to begin January 2022. A PhD is preferred (or ABD or MS accepted) in genetics or closely-related field. Candidates with strengths in a systems biology/bioinformatics approach to genetics are especially encouraged to apply. The Visiting Genetics Lecturer will have the opportunity to compete for a probable full-time, tenure-track Genetics position to begin in Fall 2022. The successful candidate will be joining a dedicated team of teacher-scholars, with expanding teaching and scholarly opportunities in bioinformatics, neuroscience, and public health anticipated in the coming years.   The Lecturer will be expected to (1) teach upper-level genetics and associated laboratories, (2) coordinate the genetics laboratories (planning the laboratories and managing the laboratory teaching assistants), and (3) teach two introductory biology course laboratory sections. Candidates who would be willing to teach genetics on a part-time basis instead are also encouraged to apply, however, benefits would not be offered in this case.   Adherence to COVID-19 protocols is expected.   Information about the Biology curriculum, including BIOL 356 Genetics, is located at https://catalog.wheaton.edu/undergraduate/artssciences/biology/#coursestext. Please address any questions regarding this position to the Chair of the Biology Department, Dr. Ray Lewis, raymond.lewis@wheaton.edu. Review of applicants will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled, or until October 22.   WHEATON COLLEGE is an evangelical Protestant Christian liberal arts college whose faculty and staff affirm a Statement of Faith and adhere to lifestyle expectations of the Wheaton College Community Covenant.
