We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic biologist skilled in wet lab genomic techniques and basic computational analysis to work within the Functional Genomics (FxG) department at our Upper Providence, Pennsylvania Research Site. The mission of our department is to decipher the genetic clues underlying human disease, thereby accelerating the path to new and better medicines. Towards this end, we leverage genomic approaches and cutting-edge analysis platforms for discovering and validating novel disease targets, understanding mechanisms of drug action and resistance, and identifying potential combination therapies. The successful candidate will have demonstrated contributions to data generation and analysis. The role will involve the development, implementation, and interpretation of advanced genomic, epigenomic, and transcriptomic methods, including troubleshooting technical and scientific issues both individually and as part of a team. Preferred qualifications include experience in a drug discovery/development setting and expertise in immunology, oncology, or a related life-sciences discipline. Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Execute NGS protocols including genomic, epigenomic, and transcriptomic workflows. Assist data pre-processing, QC, and analysis. Report to the Omics team and other stakeholders in a highly matrixed R&D environment. Effectiveness in multidisciplinary teams including excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Continuous review of extant and emerging literature and professional development opportunities, to maintain knowledge of contemporary and new techniques. A proactive attitude, excellent organisational skills and good record keeping Presentation of your results/data at both internal and external meetings. Ensure compliance with all GSK R&D data integrity practices, ethics codes, standards and training, and safety training and practices. Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: B.S. in genomics, molecular and cellular biology, or a related discipline. Experience with various aspects of next generation sequencing and related Omic technologies including sample handling and processing, library preparation, and instrumentation. Experience conducting basic computational analyses including data pre-processing, QC, and primary analyses; knowledge of NGS data processing and interpretation. Knowledge of genome biology and contemporary techniques in molecular and cell biology. Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: PhD or Masters Degree. Experience with cell imaging . Capability to design experiments, solve problems independently, troubleshoot protocols, and implement novel omics studies/protocols. Proven ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team Strong organisational and communication skills and a demonstrated ability to liaise with scientists at all levels of seniority.
