Job Overview

Design and develops data pipelines and data driven applications with limited guidance.
May coordinate the activities of either a small group of people inside and outside organization in the development and maintenance of business applications.
Defines continuous improvement of data integration, data lifecycle management, data security, data quality management, metadata management.
Build data driven application using real world evidence data of patients.
Leads a small team of direct reports. Team typically supports one or more small or moderately complex business groups or key workstreams. With guidance, oversees and guides team on data science workflow design and execution, including statistical analysis, data engineering, automation and visualization, deep learning and other contemporary machine learning techniques, models and tools.

Job Responsibilities:

Accountable for monthly progress against agreed deadlines, towards business objectives.
May investigate project feasibility, prepare project cost and benefit estimates, estimates project resource needs for staff and consultants.
Works with manager to assign objectives for team, or for changes and updates in the business area. Works on specific projects under direction from immediate manager.
Works as a project team member in projects. With guidance may act as a technical spokesperson to the business in area of expertise.
May coordinate the activities of a geographically defined group of individual contributors to ensure they meet the full requirements of their role.
May conduct professional appraisals for team members.
Collaborates with various teams across the organization on defining and improving the data architecture to support overall enterprise strategy.
Defines continuous improvement of data integration, data lifecycle management, data security, data quality management, metadata management.
Prepares and manipulate data in a big data environment.
Applies data extraction, transformation and loading techniques in order to integrate large datasets from various data sources.
Works with real world evidence data (RWD) and builds ad-hoc solutions for different use-cases.
Data profiling and data quality management.
Builds data driven application using real world evidence data of patients.
Provides technical/programming expertise to support RWD studies.
Enables data pipes for enterprise data warehouse and model the data.
Assesses and analyzes business requirements and recommends solution and plan. Supports a regulated function
of the department, understands and performs validation efforts in accordance with legal
Typically reports to Senior Manager or above.
Manages one or more direct reports.
Hires diverse top talent on own team.
Sets clear and elevating goals and work assignments for direct reports.
Develops direct report capabilities.
Coaches and advises direct reports on development and career opportunities.
Mentors, coaches and advises direct reports on their performance.
Provides matrix management and leadership to projects supported.
With guidance, creates and manages resource plans for assigned work.
Oversees and guides assignments of moderate complexity that enable the assigned business groups or workstreams to achieve their strategies and objectives more effectively and efficiently.
Interacts with other functions in and outside Development Data Science.
Collaborates and partners with others to ensure assigned deliverables are completed on-time, within-budget and to the quality expected.

Knowledge & Skills:

Proficient understanding and application of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the field of building data driven applications. Wide range knowledge of other related disciplines. May provide on-the-job guidance to others.
Provide technical solutions to a variety of complex problems. Solutions are innovative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.
Works under minimal direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed periodically upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.
Exerts influence on the overall objectives and long-range goals of the organization.
Contributes to the completion of specific programs, projects or responsible for individual business targets. Failure to obtain results or erroneous decisions or recommendations would typically result in serious program delays and considerable expenditure of resources or loss of sales.
Represents organization as the prime contact on contracts or projects. Frequent inter- organizational and outside customer contacts. Represents the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.
Has complete knowledge in two or more key areas - statistical analysis, data automation, data mining, machine learning and/or data visualization.
Has knowledge of data science best practices and tools and has shown ability to apply this to improve decision-making effectiveness and efficiencies.
Able to coach and guide less experienced colleagues in solving problems.

Preferences:

Experience working with programming languages like Java, Python, SAS, SQL, and SCALA.
Advanced skills in troubleshooting and tuning AWS Lambda functions developed with Python.
Understanding of Data warehousing/Data Modeling/Data Lake with Redshift and Athena.
Experience with event-driven architecture design patterns and practices.
Experience in database design and architecture principles and strong SQL abilities.
Experience with Hadoop, Hive, ECS, Glue and PySpark.
Experience in working with OMOP CDM and OHDSI tools.
Familiar with industry expectations of EHDEN and OHDSI.

Education:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
7+ Years with BA/ BS 5+ Years with MA/ MS
