Post doctoral Fellow in Malaria

Position Description: The Daily lab is hiring a post-doctoral fellow to study brain swelling in the experimental model of cerebral malaria (ECM). We are seeking a highly motivated and productive scientist to lead the program which will define mechanisms of brain swelling through analysis of gene knock out of parasite virulence proteins, metabolomics, histopathology and neuroimaging.  Adjunctive therapies will be tested in vivo to improve survival in ECM.  The scientist will be expected to design and conduct experiments, interpret data and prepare manuscripts. Funding is available for two years, the initial appointment is for one year and will be renewed with satisfactory progress.

Job Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., etc.) in an appropriate field is required. Experience in the animal model of infection is highly desirable. Strong scientific writing ability, work ethic and collegiality are required. A record of first author publications are desired.
