Site Name: Home Worker - GBR, Home Worker - USA Posted Date: Jul 29 2021 The purpose of this role is to drive excellence in the fit-for-purpose application of research methods to real-world data (RWD) within the Real-World Analytics (RWA) team, in alignment with our aspirations for upper quartile performance as a partner of choice in value evidence generation. This is accomplished through technical expertise, matrix leadership, and mentoring of RWA scientists reporting into others. This position provides scientific leadership on behalf of the RWA organization, develops and implements new capabilities for the RWA organization, and contributes to initiatives to grow the use of RWD to inform decision-making. This position may include line management of a small- to mid-sized team. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES The responsibilities listed below outline the scope of the position. The application of these tasks may vary, based upon evolving business needs. Leadership Serves on the RWA Leadership Team (RWALT) and provides strategic leadership and recommendations on the use of RWD for evidence generation or decision-making to relevant stakeholders Develops and implements new capabilities for the RWA organization through adoption of innovative methods, approaches, and techniques Represents RWA in Value Evidence and Outcomes (VEO) initiatives (e.g., Non-interventional framework), provides statistical consultation in RWD, and integrates with matrix partners (e.g., Research and Safety Science, biostatistics, Human Genetics) within and external to VEO to define/implement strategy for how to use RWD to meet their business needs Serves as Member or Chair of the VEO Protocol Review Committee (PRC) to scientific quality of non-interventional studies May lead a small-to mid-sized team of RWA Scientists which would provide support for key assets not included in a specific R&D therapy area (TA), serve as specialized support across RWA TAs (e.g., methods consultation), and provide project-level support as required. Assesses and manages resourcing needs and allocation of team Innovation and Organizational Development Expertise Leads the application and implementation of innovative methods to RWD to demonstrate GSK's role at the forefront of novel thinking in the use of RWD in the pharmaceutical industry Drives learning and development for the RWA and Real-World Data Management and Programming (RWDMP) organizations and measures impact Contributes to the establishment of appropriate governance, process, templates, and documentation requirements for RWA deliverables to ensure reproducibility, regulatory inspection readiness, and where applicable, follows GSKs SOPs and international scientific standards Directly informs and influences external strategic initiatives in the use of RWD within the pharmaceutical industry, involving both regulators and industry, to maximize their value to GSK; manages external engagement with key academic (e.g., LSHTM, UNC) and industry (e.g., Precision) partners Articulates and leads the development of solutions for analytic needs within RWA, including analytic tool strategy as well as integration with broader GSK-wide initiatives Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: MS in a quantitative discipline such as epidemiology, health economics, health services research, health informatics, or biostatistics 5 years of experience working with RWD for use in pharmacoepidemiology and/or health outcomes research with good practical knowledge of biostatistics applied to clinical/epidemiological research Experience and practical knowledge of statistical/analytic software (e.g., SAS, R, IHD) Fluent in written and spoken English to effectively communicate and Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: Prior team leadership experience, specifically leading a small-to-mid-sized team and managing direct reports A good understanding of drug development processes and strategies, with proven ability to apply innovative statistical thinking to meet project and/or business objectives PhD degree in a quantitative discipline such as epidemiology, health economics, health services research, health informatics, or biostatistics Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills and enjoy finding efficient and innovative solutions to challenging problems Self-reliant with the ability to deliver robust, timely, high-quality analytics Enthusiastic collaborator and enjoy working on a wide range of projects and requests across multiple TAs 7 years of experience working with RWD for use in pharmacoepidemiology and/or health outcomes research with good practical knowledge in biostatistics applied to clinical/epidemiological research, with a deep understanding of scientific methodologies employed in health outcome studies, epidemiology, regulatory, safety and/or reimbursement requirements for evidence generation and the R&D development process SOFT SKILLS Ability to lead, mentor, coach and develop a team Ability to work and interact with matrix partners across the organization Strong problem solving skills, ability to address conflicts/issues and make decisions to achieve results Excellent organizational and planning skills Excellent communication skills Why GSK?
