The Department of Biology/College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a Biologist for tenure-track at the rank of Assistant Professor. UAB is a Carnegie Level 1 research university and academic health center named the Top Young University in the U.S in 2019. We are seeking diverse candidates from all disciplines of biology who are using innovative approaches to teaching and research and can complement or expand existing strengths in the Department of Biology and across the UAB campus. Applicants using traditional or nontraditional species or groups to investigate fundamental biological questions at the molecular, cellular, and organismal levels will be considered. Preference will be given to those who work in research areas that are interdisciplinary and transformative. 
 

With over 22,500 students and 2,459 full-time faculty members, UAB ranks in the top 20 public universities for federal research funding and is the major research and teaching university in Alabama. Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in biological sciences or a related discipline and postdoctoral research experience. At the rank of Assistant Professor, applicants must have an excellent research record, high productivity concerning peer-reviewed publications, and strong potential to build and sustain a vigorous, externally funded research program. 

Preferred Qualifications

The successful applicant will also show promise to effectively teach a diverse body of both undergraduates and graduate students (M.S. and Ph.D.) appropriate to Assistant Professor.
