The Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (MCDB) in the College of Literature, Science and the Arts at the University of Michigan solicits applications for a faculty position at the assistant professor level, but appointment at a more senior level is possible for applicants with suitable experience. The faculty position will be tenured or tenure track with a university year appointment starting August 29, 2022 or January 1, 2023. Successful candidates will be expected to establish a vigorous, extramurally-funded research program and to be involved in instruction of both undergraduate and graduate students.

We welcome applications from outstanding biologists in the broad areas of plant biology and neuroscience. Experimental approaches may include (but are not limited to) genetics, genomics, structural biology, enzymology, physiology, in vivo imaging, and single cell technologies. For further information about MCDB research areas and the goals of this faculty search, please visit www.lsa.umich.edu/mcdb.

All applications must be submitted on-line at: https://webapps.lsa.umich.edu/Apply/MCDB21.

You will be asked to upload the following materials: A cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a brief summary of recent research accomplishments and statement of future research plans, a statement of teaching interests and philosophy. Also include a personal statement that describes your demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through
scholarship/research, and/or teaching/mentoring, and/or service/engagement (this statement may overlap with your teaching statement). Candidates for appointment as an assistant professor should provide names and contact information for at least three references, as instructed in the on-line application form. To ensure full consideration, all materials should be
received by November 1, 2021.

Highly qualified applicants are also encouraged to apply to the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts’ Collegiate Fellowship Program (https://lsa.umich.edu/ncid/fellowshipsawards/lsa-collegiate-postdoctoral-fellowship.html), and the university’s Presidential Postdoctoral Fellowship Program (https://presidentspostdoc.umich.edu/), both of which provide for an optional fellowship period before transitioning onto the tenure track.
Women and underrepresented minorities are encouraged to apply. The University of Michigan is supportive of the needs of dual career couples and is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer
