Postdoctoral Fellowship - Innate Immune Regulation and Autoinflammatory Disease Mechanisms
Position Summary - A postdoctoral position to study innate immune signaling pathways and immune regulation is available immediately in the Herman B Wells Center for Pediatric Research at the Indiana University School of Medicine. The research project is aimed at understanding the regulation of signaling by innate pattern recognition receptors and sensors that activate the NF-kB family of transcription factors and type I IFN responses. In previous work we identified key domains in the NF-kB essential modulator, NEMO, that regulate inflammatory responses and immunity. (PNAS 2016 PMID : 26802121, JCI 2020 PMID : 31874111). The goal of this project is to learn how the biochemical mechanisms that control NF-kB and type I IFN responses are regulated by these domains and the role these mechanisms play in genetic immune deficiency and immune dysregulation. These findings will guide the development of novel therapies to treat and prevent more common autoimmune and auto inflammatory diseases.
Responsibilities - The postdoctoral fellow will learn to employ an array of techniques utilizing advanced cell biology, biochemistry and molecular biology assays. The project involves characterizing mouse models of disease in genetically modified mice, and elucidating molecular mechanisms of protein regulation in primary patient samples, pluripotent stem cells, and engineered cancer cell lines. Basic Qualifications-Doctorate or terminal degree required. PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular or Cell Biology, Immunology, or a related field and/or MD with an interest in Immunology and Genetics. The candidate will work closely with others in a team setting as well as independently. Experience working with mice and human patient samples is desirable.
