The Columbia Center for Translational Immunology (CCTI) in the Department of Medicine at Columbia University Irving Medical Center invites applications for an experienced embryologist with exceptional skills in porcine somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) and assisted reproductive technologies at the Associate Research Scientist level. Ph.D. in Animal or Veterinary Science, Reproductive/Developmental / Cell or Molecular Biology or related fields.

The embryologist will be expected to complete technical tasks and perform scientific research on aggressive timelines, and to work as part of a cohesive team on varied tasks with changing priorities.
This position requires excellent micromanipulation, troubleshooting, analytical, interpersonal, communication skills, and willingness to strictly adhere to the protocols, operational procedures, quality control measures, and timelines.

• Responsible for producing transgenic cloned pig embryos and pigs using conventional micromanipulation and/or hand-made cloning technologies.
• Contribute to the improvement of procedural and processes efficiencies and production outcomes.
• Assist the team in planning and performing the experiments.
• Keep accurate data on developmental and quality control parameters and timely documentation of laboratory work.
• Pay attention to detail, strictly adhere to safety protocols and use knowledge of basic laboratory procedures to advance projects under rapidly shifting priorities and timelines.
• Learn and perform surgical embryo transfer into surrogate pigs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• PhD in Animal or Veterinary Science, Reproductive/ Developmental / Cell or Molecular Biology or related fields.
• Minimum 3-5 years of direct hands-on experience in in-vitro production of embryos and somatic cell cloning in academic/industry research settings. Experience is swine cloning is desirable.
• Familiarity with transgenic animal production and/or hand-made cloning techniques is preferred.
• Broad experience in mammalian cell, oocyte, and embryo culture techniques is required.
• Hands-on experience with microscopy, micromanipulation and related instrumentation is preferred.
