ROLE SUMMARY

The position is for a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Structural and Molecular Sciences group in close collaboration with Cellular Genomics and Protein Sciences (CGPS) group in Discovery Sciences department. The overall goals of this position are to carry out project work and training in novel areas of targeted protein degradation in order to make unique discoveries enabling high impact publications. Prior experience with mammalian cell culture and biophysical and biochemical characterization of proteins is required. Knowledge in the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS) & autophagy is a plus. Our Connecticut research campus is located in Groton, CT approximately two hours from both Boston and New York City.

This postdoctoral fellow position offers the unique opportunity to immerse yourself in a dynamic pharmaceutical industry environment, to work with and influence fellow scientists across other disciplines. You will be expected to deliver the results of your novel research internally via various working groups, via external conferences and through publications in high quality scientific journals.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform cell-based and in vitro studies to elucidate mechanism of action of novel protein degraders
  • Design experiments, analyze data and work independently in a laboratory environment
  • Develop and implement independent research ideas
  • Collaborate effectively with other Pfizer colleagues in related disciplines
  • Critical reading of the relevant literature
  • Manuscript preparation and presentation of results in oral and poster formats


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ph.D. in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry or a related field
  • Strong track record of scientific publications
  • Hands-on experience with basic cell biology and biochemistry, including cell culture, cell isolation, immunoblotting, biophysical characterization, and general molecular biology skills (Construct design, PCR etc...)
  • Familiarity with the protein degradation field is a plus
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, willingness to learn new skills, and ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Outstanding problem-solving skill for scientific challenges


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with protein expression, purification and structural biology

Lifting, sitting, standing, walking, bending, ability to perform mathematical calculations and ability to perform complex data analysis.
