Graphic Designer II, Commercial Labeling Operations

Specific Job Responsibilities

  • Creates new artwork and revises existing labeling (cartons, labels, blister cards, IFUs, and package inserts) using Adobe CC suite in a Mac OS.
  • Ensures artwork is created following Gilead's internal SOPs and Work Instructions, as well as the printing industry's best practices.
  • Works with the Labeling team and other internal/external groups to ensure artwork meets not only corporate brand standards but also regulatory authority, manufacturing, and quality requirements.
  • Updates appropriate teams on realistic deadlines for labeling artwork changes and maintains well-organized project details in both a PLM system and on secure file servers.
  • Communicates clearly and proficiently with internal customers and external component suppliers and packaging sites.
  • Manages assignments that require self-directed initiative and range from routine to complicated and multi-faceted.
  • Demonstrates a high level of accountability for meeting deadlines, attention to detail, accuracy, and critical thinking.
  • Dispenses labeling samples and creates physical packaging mock-ups as needed.


Knowledge & Skills

  • Print production experience using InDesign (for example, Style Sheets) to properly manage lengthy documents comprising global languages and multi-script fonts.
  • A basic understanding of the differences between Central European, Cyrillic, Middle Eastern, and Asian typography.
  • Able to work independently as well as readily take direction from team members.
  • Shows a willingness to understand business objectives and company culture.
  • Exhibits excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills when interacting with both internal and external customers.
  • Displays solid organizational skills, with the flexibility to quickly realign priorities to meet changing business needs.


Required Experience
  • A Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of two (2) years of relevant pharmaceutical experience. Alternatively, two (2) years of experience in packaging or graphic design in a very technical, regulated, or high-volume production environment.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign


Preferred Experience
  • Prior experience in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, or medical device industry.
  • Experience in a GMP environment, as well as familiarity with FDA and regulatory guidance documents related to pharmaceutical labeling.
