Job Description
The Research Specialist will work within the Dunckley Lab in the vibrant Neurodegenerative Disease Research Center within ASU's Biodesign Institute. The Dunckley Lab seeks to develop new therapeutics for Alzheimer's disease using a combination of molecular and biochemical approaches. A diverse toolset of techniques will be required in this position and a desire to learn additional techniques as necessary is essential.

$35,000 - $50,000 per year; DOE

Essential Duties
The applicant will perform wet lab experiments, including cell culture, western blotting, immunohistochemistry, ELISA, and tissue sectioning. The Research Specialist will also perform data analysis and generate charts and graphs for data presentation.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND two years related research experience; OR, Six years research experience appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with standard molecular biology techniques, including cell culture, westerns and ELISAs.
Working Environment
- Regular activities require ability to manage multiple tasks at one time, to be able to prioritize tasks; to manage conflict; to interact in a team environment; and to communicate through verbal and written work.
- Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting and laboratory subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work.
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
- Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities, which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
- Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
- May be required to wear personal protective equipment before entering laboratories such as lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, closed toe shoes, and respirator.
