We are seeking a talented individual to join the lab of Professor David Sinclair at Harvard Medical School. The Science Writer will provide essential support to the PI, postdoctoral fellows and students in developing grant proposals and applications to advance the laboratory’s pursuit of external funding for research projects. Proposals are focused on the study of aging, and the prevention or reversal of age associated dysfunction. The individual will support lab members through all phases of the research proposal process from the time of project inception through research protocol and proposal development and submission, and the dissemination and reporting of findings to funding agencies and publication. This position is ideal for a recent graduate transitioning to project management.

Remote work is possible with occasional travel to Boston, Massachusetts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct literature and topical research pertinent to projects
  • Keep informed on topics of interest and issues related to research projects
  • Help identify funding sources to support existing and planned research activities
  • Develop and write diverse grant proposals to state, federal and private institutions
  • Investigate published evidence supporting project aims, draft sections of grants, assist in developing budget, and ensure that components such as letters of support and bio-sketches are completed and submitted in a timely fashion
  • Assist in building diverse and successful teams of researchers
  • Monitor and document progress towards goals, prepare updates and reports for ongoing projects
  • Assist in writing research and review articles for publication and preparation of presentations and posters for meetings
  • Assist with patent applications

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in life sciences, preferably molecular and cell biology (experienced Masters considered)
  • Excellent research, presentation, organizational, interpersonal, and networking skills
  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work with short deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Meticulous writing, grammar and spelling skills a must
  • Experience writing scientific grant applications and articles as well as grant administration and/or project coordination preferred
  • Able to work with and organize high-performance teams
