JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES
Research Activities -Coordinate, plan, organize and direct several research projects examining the role of REST in modulating the medulloblastoma microenvironment. Experiments will focus transplanting human cell lines into xenograft and transgenic mouse models; and performing drug screens to identify new epigenetics-based therapeutics.
-Create goals related to experiments, which outline the experimental procedures and data interpretation.
-Supervise the design and development of research and equipment needed to obtain the desired result.
-Independently modify experimental approach based on these results to achieve specific goals.
-Experimental procedures can include retroviral or lentiviral transduction, high throughput expression and chromatin binding assays, mass spectrometry and other molecular, biochemical and pharmacological approaches, evaluation of intracranial tumors by imaging, pathology, nString and immunohistochemistry.
Publications and Documentation -Compiles, writes and submits reports to Principal Investigator
-Authors abstracts and papers, prepares manuscripts for publication, presents data in scientific meetings.
-Assists Principal Investigator with grant applications through data generation, scientific writing and figure generation.
Mentorship and Training -Trains students, postdoctoral and clinical fellows, and other lab personnel to perform experimental techniques. This may include a wide range of techniques in molecular and cellular biology, light microscopy, imaging and lab software. -Assigns and reviews work of subordinates, determines specific goals and objectives to be attained and evaluates the resulting data to determine if approach or technique should be modified to achieve desired result.
