The Gilead Business Services center in Raleigh's Research Triangle region will be home to some of the company's critical shared service teams in North America, including Information Technology, Global Financial Solutions, HR Operations and Procurement Services Desk. These functions provide the necessary support to ensure Gilead's business runs effectively and efficiently. The API Platform Lead will be responsible for managing our API platform operations, maturing and extending data, reporting and API solutions across the organization. By combining a strong technical background with a solid understanding of market trends, the IT API Platform Lead will be responsible for architecting, designing and delivering projects and enhancements across the Enterprise API Platform.

Essential Duties and Job Functions
  • Excellent skills in APIGEE or similar Middleware API Platforms, SOAP and REST Services, XML and JSON formats and integration concepts
  • Work with Business partners for new solutions and Automation ideas
  • Able to interpret requirements for the technical team on services/integrations in an Agile process
  • Lead and groom a team of architects/developers who might be geographically distributed
  • Make technology decisions related to Apigee environment
  • Create Design Document addressing business paint points around integration leveraging Google API platform
  • Create & Maintain best practice documents on API Management
  • Broad knowledge of web standards relating to APIs (OAuth, SSL, CORS, JWT, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Change & Incident Management process
  • Partner with other groups in the organization including Business Engagement, Information Management, Infrastructure and IT Security to ensure robust and scalable solutions
  • Work with other solution and domain architects to establish architecture standards, policies and governance
  • Combine business needs, vendor roadmaps and technology trends to develop Enterprise API platform and product roadmaps and future state architecture diagrams


Basic Qualifications:
Associates Degree and Twelve Years Experience OR Bachelor's Degree and Ten Years' Experience OR Masters' Degree and Eight Years' Experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years experience managing Middleware API Platform (APIGEE or Mulesoft, etc.)
  • 3+ years experience in Design and Architecture preferably in API Management
  • Excellent technical, analytical, and project management skills
  • Experience with Cloud platforms including AWS and Google Cloud
  • Thorough understanding of cloud technologies, market trends and the broader ecosystem
  • Demonstrate proficiency and thorough knowledge of computer system validation (CSV) requirements defined by applicable authorities and/or industry groups
  • Operational knowledge and experience with CS applications in a GXP environment
  • Experience delivering solutions using Agile DevOps is a plus
  • Previous experience in Life Sciences
