Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Computational Genomics and Bioinformatics
Postdoctoral fellow in computational genomics and bioinformatics
We are looking for talented and passionate postdoctoral fellows to work in the field of computational genomics and bioinformatics. We solve real-world problems relevant to human health and pioneer the frontiers of knowledge on human genetics/genomics with the latest genomic technologies and rigorous computational analyses. The lab particularly focuses on retrotransposons, so candidates who are interested in those areas are welcome to apply! The projects for this opening study genomic variations (both germline and somatic) and their impact on RNA in various human conditions and involve the analysis of various types of next-generation sequencing (NGS) data, including whole genome, RNA-seq, and single-cell DNA/RNA-sequencing data.
The Lee laboratory is part of the division of Genetics and Genomics at Boston Children's Hospital, the department of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School (HMS), and also affiliated with the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. We are working with top-notch experimental and clinical collaborators in Boston Some of our projects already result into the development of innovative antisense-based therapeutics to correct splicing defects caused by retrotransposons. We have access to multiple large genomic study cohorts and computational infrastructure including cloud platforms. We also have a wet lab, so our computational models/predictions can be validated in-house within the lab, and candidates who intent to pursue his/her own molecular work along with training in computational work are encouraged to apply.
Details about the Lee laboratory can be found at http://compgen.hms.harvard.edu
Ideal candidates will have a PhD in computational biology/bioinformatics/computer science or other quantitative fields and satisfy at least one criteria below:
- Prior experience in developing NGS analysis tools, performing integrative bioinformatics analysis, or studying population genetics/evolutionary biology
- Strong mathematical/statistical background or with high motivation to study biomedical research
- Strong computer science/IT background with high motivation to study biomedical research
Interested applicants should send your CV including three references, and a brief statement of your research interests along with your best papers (up to three) to firstname.lastname@example.org with [Application] in the subject line.
