Cancer Biology Faculty Position

The James P. Wilmot Cancer Institute at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, NY is currently recruiting early and mid-career tenure-track faculty as part of a major expansion of its basic and translational science research base. Scientists making use of genomic/epigenomic approaches, bioinformatics, tumor model systems and/or human specimens to study tumor plasticity, evolution and metastasis, cancer cell metabolism, and microenvironment influences on tumor behavior/immunology, and individuals focused on breast or lung cancer are particularly encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will join a highly interactive, growing multidisciplinary research community. The Wilmot Cancer Institute is the hub of cancer research at the University of Rochester, attracting more than $20M in cancer-directed funding annually. Wilmot Cancer Institute’s Core Research Programs include: ‘Genetics, Epigenetics and Metabolism’, ‘Cancer Microenvironment’ and ‘Cancer Prevention and Control’. The Wilmot Cancer Institute and UR Medicine are the major providers of comprehensive, multidisciplinary cancer care in central New York State and the Finger Lakes region, with >6000 new patients every year and an extensive clinical trials program providing opportunity for innovative translational research. Overall, Rochester has a vibrant cultural environment and ranks #1 among cities in the Northeast to live post-COVID.  Candidates should hold a PhD and/or MD degree and have a demonstrated track-record of research accomplishment in an area relevant to cancer biology. New faculty will benefit from vibrant graduate/professional training programs and state of the art infrastructure and core facilities, as well as a strong Institutional commitment to career development. Appointments will be made at a level commensurate with experience with corresponding expectations of research and funding accomplishment. Departmental affiliation will be determined according to best fit.
