Mathematical modeling and molecular biology of cell surface receptors

Two postdoctoral training positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Khuloud Jaqaman, in the Department of Biophysics at UT Southwestern Medical Center.

Computational postdoctoral position:

The successful candidate will conduct research focused on the very exciting goal of quantitatively characterizing protein-protein interaction kinetics by integrating stochastic mathematical modeling and machine learning with single-molecule and super-resolution imaging (see, e.g., de Oliveira & Jaqaman Biophys. J. 2019), as part of a project quantifying receptor interactions and signaling in their native cellular environment.

Candidates must have computational expertise, and must hold or expect to soon receive a Ph.D. in physics, engineering, computational biology, statistics, or a related field.

Experimental postdoctoral position:

The successful candidate will conduct research focused on the also very exciting goal of determining the molecular links between plasma membrane proteins and the actin cortex, as part of a project studying the influence of the actin cortex on receptor organization and signaling at the plasma membrane.

Candidates must hold or expect to soon receive a Ph.D. in cell biology, molecular biology or a related field, with expertise in mutagenesis techniques and screening for protein-protein interactions. Familiarity with mammalian tissue culture and live-cell imaging is a plus.

The Jaqaman lab consists of computational and experimental students and postdoctoral fellows, working together in a vibrant, collaborative environment to address questions related to cell surface receptor organization and signaling. Our closely-knit lab setup will allow the successful candidates to not only advance their skills in their areas of expertise but also obtain cross-disciplinary training, thus increasing their skillset and competitiveness for modern biomedical research.

Information on the UT Southwestern postdoctoral training program and benefits can be found at http://www.utsouthwestern.edu/postdocs.

Interested individuals should send a CV, a statement describing their research interests and accomplishments, and a list of three references to khuloud.jaqaman@utsouthwestern.edu.

Review of candidates will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled.
