The Department of Biomedical Engineering in the FU Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science is please to invite application for a tenure track assistant professor faculty position at Columbia University in the City of New York Extraordinary candidates at a tenure track/tenured associate professor or tenured professor are also invited to apply.  Candidates are sought in the broad areas of Biomedical Imaging/AI, but exceptional candidates in other fields (not limited to): mechanomedicine, neuroengineering, orthopaedic bioengineering, regenerative medicine and tissue engineering, system and synthetic biology, biomaterials, functional biomedical engineering, system and synthetic biology, bioinformatics of cellular networks, and genomic engineering will be considered.

The successful candidate is expected to advance their field by developing an original and leading externally funded research program, and contributing to the educational missions of the Department of Biomedical Engineering and, as appropriate, Columbia University Irving Medical Center.  Columbia offers a rich environment for multidisciplinary research and encourages collaborations with additional academic departments and units across Columbia University.  This position seeks candidates who would develop biomedical engineering research in crosscutting fields.  The ability to teach undergraduate and graduate level biomedical engineering courses is a must.  The Department is especially interested in qualified candidates who will contribute, through their research, teaching and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.  

Candidates must have a Ph.D. or its professional equivalent in Biomedical Engineering or related field by the start date of the appointment.  Postdoctoral experience is preferred but not required for the junior level appointment.  Applicants for the tenure-track position must demonstrate the potential to do pioneering research and to teach effectively.  Candidates to be considered at the senior level should have an outstanding leadership record in academic research and education.  A joint appointment with Columbia University Irving Medical Center is also possible.
