Assistant Professor (tenure-track) Biomedical & Chemical Engineering

The Department of Biomedical and Chemical Engineering (BMCE) at Syracuse University (http://bmce.syr.edu/) is seeking applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. This position is part of a multi-year, cluster hiring initiative, and we are targeting candidates with expertise in Advanced Materials with applications in Energy and/or Environmental Sustainability. Faculty hired through this initiative are expected to build on Syracuse University’s existing strengths in these areas and to integrate into a growing research cluster that spans multiple departments in the Colleges of Engineering and Computer Science and the College of Arts and Sciences.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in chemical engineering or a closely related discipline.  Preference will be given to candidates who possess fundamental expertise in materials science, energy storage, electrochemistry, catalysis, separations, process systems engineering, or closely related fields. Candidates should further demonstrate strong commitments to collaborative, cross-disciplinary research; to excellence in teaching; and to fostering diversity and inclusion. The BMCE Department offers B.S. (ABET-accredited), M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in bioengineering and chemical engineering. There are currently 18 full-time faculty members, 195 undergraduate students and 99 graduate students, 56 of whom are doctoral students.

For full consideration, candidates must complete an online application. The application package includes (1) a cover letter, (2) a curriculum vitae, (3) a concise statements of research plans and teaching interests, (4) a statement reflecting on the candidate’s efforts or interests in promoting diversity and inclusion in academia, and (5)  contact information for three professional references.

Review of applications will start on November 1, 2021 and continue until the position is filled. For additional information, please contact the chair of the search committee, Professor Jesse Bond, via email at jqbond@syr.edu

Applications should be submitted through www.sujobopps.com (job #075957, direct link viahttps://www.sujobopps.com/postings/87828).

Syracuse University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer with a strong commitment to equality of opportunity and a diverse work force. Members of groups traditionally underrepresented in higher education broadly, and in engineering, specifically, are strongly encouraged to apply.
