Full Professor for Fungal Ecology
at pay grade W 3 (minimum salary per month: 7,217 euros) to commence in October 2022. This is a permanent civil service position.

We seek a candidate with an excellent scientific track record in the fungal ecology of terrestrial ecosystems with a particular focus on fungal-plant interactions. A methodological profile in field and laboratory experimentation, modern molecular methods, and / or advanced imaging methods is desired. Possible research foci include plant-fungal mutualisms such as mycorrhiza, or antagonistic plant-fungal interactions in the context of communities and ecosystem dynamics. The research should have clear links to sustainability, biodiversity or global change in agricultural and / or natural ecosystems.

The incumbent will be required to teach Fungal Biology and Ecology in the University of Bayreuth’s BSc Biology, MSc Biodiversity and Ecology, MSc Molecular Ecology as well as in the BSc Biology teacher education programme curricula. The ability to teach in English and German is expected.

We invite applications from candidates with proven publication impact and funding-acquisition records in Fungal Ecology. We expect a willingness to contribute to interdisciplinary cooperation in the Bayreuth Centre for Ecology and Environmental Research (BayCEER), in the Collaborative Research Centre 1357 Microplastics, as well as a willingness to initiate new collaborative research programmes.
