The Schmid College of Science and Technology at Chapman University invites applications for a Tenure Track, Assistant Professor of Molecular Biology, to begin August 2022.

 The Biological Sciences program is located in the newly built Keck Center for Science and Engineering, a state-of-the-art building that facilitates collaborations among the faculty and students.  Qualifications

We seek a colleague with a strong record of publication and potential for securing extramural funding who can incorporate undergraduates into their research program. Demonstrated teaching excellence and a Ph.D. in biology, biochemistry, genetics, microbiology or a related area are required.  Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in a relevant field by the expected 8/1/22 position start date and must demonstrate both commitment and contributions to diversity, equity and inclusion. Post-doctoral training is highly desired.

 The successful candidate is expected to establish an active research program in an area of molecular biology including, but not limited to:

• Cell Biology

• Developmental Biology

• Microbiology

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to lead a rigorous research program, which will include securing extramural funding and publishing in peer-reviewed journals. The candidate’s primary responsibilities will be to establish a research program with undergraduate student involvement and teach four courses per year. This could include contributing to introductory biology classes as well as developing upper-division courses in the candidate’s field of expertise.
