Texas A&M AgriLife Research (AgriLife) is seeking an internationally-renowned scientific leader in evidence-based research to serve as the Deputy Director for the newly developed Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Scientific Evidence Center (EC Deputy Director).  The mission of the Center is to become an authoritative source for non-biased information on the Agri-Food system’s effects on health, the environment, and the economy, thereby contributing to global solutions for malnutrition, diet-related chronic disease, and environmental sustainability. 

The EC Deputy Director will serve as the Chief Science Officer of the Center, responsible for delivering on its mission-driven programs on agriculture, environmental, nutrition, health and economics evidence assessments for national and international government, and public health organizations.  Overseeing a robust research program, the EC Deputy Director will be responsible for recruiting, managing and retaining world-class level scientific staff to conduct evidence-based reviews, develop new evidence synthesis methodologies, and deliver sought-after educational programs.  In addition, the EC Deputy Director will assure implementation of policies and best practice guidelines for the highest standards for transparency, scientific integrity and replication of work conducted at the Center. 

As the scientific leader, the EC Deputy Director will represent the Center in collaborative evidence consortia, and public health, policy and scientific advisory groups.  To build and maintain the Center’s reputation as a leading global source of unbiased scientific assessments and analyses, the EC Deputy Director will assure maintenance of a high level of scholarly activity at the Center through publications and presentations.  The EC Deputy Director, in collaboration with the Director and AgriLife leadership, will represent the Center to Texas A&M university as well, including galvanizing faculty to participate as partners and topic experts, and support communication of findings to develop and maintain the reputation of the Center as delivering on the highest standards of scientific evidence assessments research and educational programs.
