Job Details

We are seeking a talented and highly motivated Associate Computational Scientist interested in understanding the co-evolutionary interactions between cancer and immune cells in the tumor microenvironment. Our lab uses unbiased, high-dimensional technologies to decode the rules of interaction among diverse cell types in the tumor milieu that determine patient outcomes to cancer immunotherapy, primarily in hematologic malignancies.

SUMMARY

The primary function of the Associate Computational Scientist is to Analyze high-dimensional data from high-throughput profiling technologies (bulk and single cell) such as whole exome sequencing and a range of single cell approaches (e.g. RNA/TCR/ATAC/CITE-seq). Impacts clinical and scientific research projects by designing complex technical programs and applications tailored to meet specific clinical and research objectives.

Key Functions

Data Analysis: Assists in the analysis and development of formalisms, algorithms and software. With direction, develops and maintains software tools and infrastructure for resolving specific problems. Maintains pipelines for analysis of sequencing data. Prioritize and manage multiple projects in a timely and resource-effective manner. Report research findings (oral and written) at internal, local and national meetings. Apply advanced statistical methods, simulation models, and skilled programming as needed.

Contributions: Contributes to the development of procedures and makes recommendations on new procedures; contributes to intellectual atmosphere through journal clubs, sharing of ideas and constructive feedback on others' presentations, and collaboration.

Marginal Assistance: Keep up to date with immunogenomic literature; contribute intellectually and collaboratively within the laboratory.

Other duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics or related field. Education Preferred: Master's degree in a related field. Three years experience in scientific software development/analysis. With preferred degree, one year of required experience. Experience Preferred: Developing or implementing analysis tools for biological data. Must be highly motivated, reliable, responsible, well organized. Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment.
