Post-doctoral positions are available in the laboratory of Dr. Priti Kumar. The Kumar lab conducts translational research with a focus on treatment of diseases caused by RNA viruses such as HIV-1, SARS-CoV-2, West Nile and Zika (https://medicine.yale.edu/profile/priti_kumar/). The laboratory is well-recognized for research on immunopathogenesis of and treatment interventions for HIV-1 and recently, SARS-CoV-2, in state-of-the-art humanized mouse models that allow studies in the context of a human immune system ( https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/myncbi/priti.kumar.1/bibliography/public/).
Open positions are available for- (i) Developing targeted in vivo delivery systems for CRISPR/Cas-based gene therapeutics; (ii) Investigating long-acting antiretroviral formulations, gene- and antibody- therapeutics for the cure of HIV-1; (iii) Investigating SARS-CoV-2 pathogenesis and treatment by live imaging. Candidates with strong background in expertise in basic virology/molecular/cell biology/immunology techniques and prior experience in working with mice are encouraged to apply. Experience in generating humanized mouse models is a strong positive, but not a requirement.
