Institute for Systems Genetics (Dry Lab Faculty Position)

The Institute for Systems Genetics at NYU Langone Medical Center invites applications for tenure-track “Dry Lab” faculty positions at the assistant or associate professor level. The Institute, headed by Jef Boeke, Ph.D., combines the latest technologies in systems, computational and synthetic biology to tackle fundamental and translational questions in genomics, genetics, epigenetics, and quantitative cell biology. The Institute occupies space in NYU Langone’s premier Science Building, which is designed to foster highly collaborative and innovative research, and operates side-by-side with programs in human genetics, computational medicine, metabolism, microbiology, cancer biology, neuroscience, and immunology to complement the vibrant overall biomedical research environment at NYU Langone Medical Center. State-of-the-art genomics, proteomics, robotics, and microscopy facilities are integral components of the Institute, and our investigators have access to other cutting-edge technologies through the medical center’s outstanding core facilities. Collaborations with the ‘omics community in NYC, NYU Tandon School of Engineering and other related entities are encouraged. We seek junior colleagues with computationally focused research programs that are relevant to the technologies being developed in the Institute, including:

  • Synthetic genomics
  • Genetic interactions
  • Protein design
  • Visualization and quantification of intracellular dynamics

Computational scientists with research interests grounded in the biological sciences, as well as candidates from nontraditional backgrounds such as computer science, engineering, physics, chemistry and mathematics, are encouraged to apply. A modest wet lab research component can be considered. The successful candidate will hold a primary appointment in one of the many relevant NYU School of Medicine Departments, and will have opportunities to participate in one or more graduate programs.

For consideration, candidates should send a CV and research plan as a consolidated pdf. Candidates are responsible for having three recommendations sent to us by referees by application deadline. Incomplete applications will not be considered. All application materials are due by 11/15/21. Candidates selected for interviews must be available to participate in a group interview event to be held on 1/18/2022.
