University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), Center for Addiction Research (CAR) – Galveston, Texas

 

The Center for Addiction Research is striving to build effective collaborations among scientists with the varying expertise  required to advance our understanding of the science of substance use disorders (SUDs). The CAR is composed of faculty across the UTMB campus with interests in SUD research and education. Drug overdose deaths, misuse, and substance use disorders (SUDs) constitute a major, high-impact health problem in the U.S. where drug overdose deaths claimed a reported 88,990 people over a 12-month study period.

 

The Sr. Research Development Specialist will provide grant proposal development expertise to faculty members and research personnel to enable competitive individual and team extramural research funding and facilitate research excellence. They will support faculty in multiple departments and/or center(s) in all phases of the research proposal process. Collaborates with other research entities and private companies to coordinate, develop, fund, and implement research and educational projects.

 

Provides training and leadership to members of the research development team.

 

Candidate Requirements:

  • M.D., Ph.D., or equivalent degree.
  • Minimum of five (5) years demonstrated success in this field/role.
  • Must possess exceptional oral, written, and analytical skills.
  • Exhibit fluency in area of specialization.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.

Preferred Experience: Candidates with recent scholarly activity and demonstrated knowledge of and/or experience with the science of team science and effective team management strategies is preferred. Candidates who have successfully submitted large, complex grants and possess research experience in the field of Neuroscience. Proficiency with computer and software systems such as Windows 10 is also preferred.
