The Department of Biomolecular Chemistry in the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Wisconsin-Madison invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant professor. We seek individuals with a vigorous research program to build on and complement the strengths within the department, including but not limited to chromosome and RNA biology, gene expression, development, metabolism, cellular signaling, cell biology and structural biology: see https://bmolchem.wisc.edu/. This productive, collegial, and highly interdisciplinary biochemistry department is part of a world-class academic institution with an international reputation for fundamental, translational, and cross-disciplinary research and is located in the heart of one of the country’s most livable cities. Our department believes that the most innovative science happens within a diverse team and a supportive environment. To this end we strive to eliminate systematic barriers to the recruitment and retention of underrepresented groups in science.

Our department is housed within the expansive Biochemical Sciences Complex. These research facilities are designed to enhance collaborative science using state-of-the-art approaches relevant to biomedical sciences, including computational, genomic, structural, chemical, molecular, and high-resolution microscopic approaches. The department has a vibrant research program, and faculty train graduate students from several outstanding Ph.D. programs. The successful candidate will also benefit from engagement with the broader scientific community, including, the Center for Quantitative Imaging, LOCI, the Cryo-EM Research Center, the Morgridge Institute for Research, the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery, the Center for Human Genomics and Precision Medicine, the UW Carbone Cancer Center (UWCCC), and the UW Hospital, and access to cutting-edge technologies through outstanding core facilities.

The ideal candidate will be expected to develop an independent extramurally funded research program that investigates molecular mechanisms and their connection to human disease, teach and mentor students and staff, and participate in administrative and committee work to support the scholarly missions of the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.

Candidates with a PhD in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, or a related field

and preferably three years of postdoctoral should submit by October 31, 2021: a CV, Statement of research (maximum of 3-pages including any figures and references) that briefly summarizes past research accomplishments and emphasizes future research plans, Statement (1 page) outlining candidates teaching experience and philosophy as well as commitment to enhancing diversity equity and inclusion effort in the sciences and provide three names and email addresses for letters for recommendation.
