Hillsdale College, a selective and independent liberal arts college of about 1400 students in southern Michigan, is seeking a broadly trained virologist and/or immunologist. The successful candidate for this tenure-track position at the assistant or associate professor rank must demonstrate effective design and teaching of undergraduate courses from introductory non-majors to upper-level biology majors, as well as an ability to supervise undergraduate senior thesis research. A PhD in an appropriate field is required; post-doctoral experience is desirable. Research facilities include a level 2 biosafety lab, confocal, widefield fluorescent, and scanning electron microscopy, and qPCR/RT-qPCR and genetic sequencing. Start-up funds will be available for additional equipment.
The successful candidate will teach introductory cell and molecular biology, upper-level courses in virology and immunology, possible additional courses in the applicant’s specialty, and introductory core biology for non-majors integrating scientific concepts in the context of the Hillsdale College liberal arts curriculum.
