What You Will Achieve

As part of the Comparative Medicine- Global Science and Technology (GST) team, you will advance the Worldwide Research Development (WRD) portfolio through developing and executing translational animal models and pharmacodynamics (PD) endpoints in oncology/immuno-oncology and other therapeutic areas.

It is your hard work along with innovative ideas and focus that will help in making Pfizer ready to achieve new milestones and help patients across the globe.

How You Will Achieve It
  • Liaising and collaborating with Pfizer Research Unit Scientists and Investigative Partners, independently design and conduct in vivo studies and associated ex vivo sample processing to evaluate drug efficacy, pharmacology, and mechanism of actions.
  • Utilize various in vivo imaging technologies and software tools to support Pfizer's therapeutic portfolio.
  • Work with research project teams to define study needs and best utilize GST resources; document, analyze, and communicate study results.
  • Produce reports, posters, talks, and other project communications and manuscripts.
  • Develop new techniques and technologies for in vivo research.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Train and mentor junior scientists and technicians
  • Support the delegation of technical work to junior scientists and technicians with guidance from manager.
  • Participate in group, departmental, and team meetings for improving process or other organizational endeavors.
  • Ensure flawless animal care and welfare in conducting research studies through study design and implementation and championing the "3 Rs" principles.


QUALIFICATIONS

Must-Have
  • Bachelor's Degree in the life sciences field
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in scientific research, preferably in a drug discovery setting.
  • Independent study conduct and proficiency in multiple laboratory and in vivo techniques
  • Experience in directing studies and project team reporting
  • Experience in performing cell culture and ex vivo sample processing
  • Contribution to manuscripts, reports, and making internal presentations
  • Good communication, leadership, and social skills to work in a dynamic and matrix environment


Nice-to-Have
  • Master's Degree with at least 3 years of experience in scientific research, preferably in a drug discovery setting
  • Experience in flow cytometry
  • Knowledge in immunology or immuno-oncology
  • Familiarity with in vivo imaging technologies such as optical imaging (BLI or fluorescent), PET (positron emission tomography), microCT, and ultrasound


PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Able to perform hours of data analysis/interpretation
  • Must be able to wear standard PPE (lab coat, glasses, etc.)


NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS
  • May need to travel domestically no more than 1-2 times a year for study support or meetings at other Pfizer sites.
  • May be required to work under one of the following: The United States Department of Agriculture Animal Welfare Act and associated Regulations and Standards, the Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, Good Laboratory Practices, Public Health Service Policy and/or AAALAC accreditation standards.
