Job Details

The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) Cancer Center (CC), Froedtert Health Network (FHN) and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin (CHW) are launching a $40M transformational Immuno-Oncology (IO) Initiative. This IO Initiative will expand an already robust IO program, which includes a strong cadre of tumor immunologists, a GMP-grade Cell Therapy Laboratory already performing over 100 commercial and institutional CAR-T transplants annually, an IO Immunophenotyping and Biorepository Core, IO research training for clinical fellows and junior faculty, a robust investigator initiated clinical trials pipeline with dedicated expertise in CAR-T and immunotherapy related trials. MCW CC campus houses the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research, the Versiti Blood Research Institute and the Genome Sciences Precision Medicine Center, and is the hub for the FHN and CHW.

Cancer is the top strategic priority of MCW. MCW, FHN and CHW are the inpatient and outpatient market share leaders in cancer care in our catchment area of Eastern Wisconsin. As part of this IO Initiative, MCW CC will seek the recruitment of 12 faculty within the next 3 years.

Available positions:

In the inaugural year, MCW CC invites applications for four tenure-track faculty positions at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor with the long-term goal of developing novel approaches for the treatment of heme malignancies and solid cancers.  Endowed chairs in IO are available for qualified senior candidates with exceptional creativity and track record. Research areas of interest include basic T and NK cell biology, tumor microenvironment, cancer immuno-genomics, cancer immune-metabolism, population based immuno-omics & disparities, CAR-T and immunotherapy development, CAR-T vector development, immune monitoring & biomarker discovery, cancer vaccines, bioinformatics and systems biology. Academic appointments will be within one of the MCW Departments of Pediatrics, Medicine, or Microbiology & Immunology, with memberships in the Center for Immunology and the MCW CC. These positions provide attractive start-up packages and outstanding opportunities for collaboration with basic, translational, and clinical investigators.

Who are we looking for?

Suitable candidates will have an M.D., Ph.D., or M.D/Ph.D. degree. Successful candidates will have track records of creativity and productivity, a desire to integrate into our exciting, collaborative, and growing community of researchers, and a dedication to contribute to our values of diversity and openness. They will be expected to mount a productive and innovative research program, to obtain outside funding, and to participate actively in graduate and post-graduate teaching, training, and mentorship. Eastern Wisconsin is a vibrant, diverse metropolitan area.  MCW is intent on attracting, developing, and retaining a diverse workforce and faculty body that reflects the community we serve. We value diversity of backgrounds, experience, thought, and perspectives to advance excellence in science and medicine.  MCW is a welcoming campus community with a strong culture of collaboration, partnership, and engagement with our surrounding community.

How do you apply?

Applications are currently being accepted on a rolling basis until the positions are filled. Qualified applicants should submit a single PDF containing a cover letter, CV, summary of research accomplishments and future research plans (four pages maximum), and names and contact information of four references to www.mcw.edu/careers requisition #27624. For inquiries, please contact Dr. Subra Malarkannan, Chair, IO-Recruitment Committee (smalarka@mcw.edu). MCW is committed to increasing the diversity of its faculty and strongly encourages applications from individuals in groups that are underrepresented in the biomedical sciences.
