The Department of Biology within the College of Arts and Sciences at Creighton University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track assistant professorship in the area of aquatic ecology to begin in July 2022. A Ph.D. is required and postdoctoral and prior teaching experience is preferred.  We seek applicants with any of a broad range of research subspecialities from molecular ecology (e.g. ecotoxicology of aquatic systems; molecular/genomic analyses of aquatic systems) to evolutionary and physiological ecology (e.g. adaptations of plants and animals to aquatic life) to ecosystems-level research.

We seek an outstanding teacher-scholar who will contribute to Creighton's history of excellence in instruction, research, and service. The successful applicant will support the Biology Department and Environmental Science Program through course offerings in aquatic ecology, foundational ecology, and introductory biology, as well as other areas of expertise such as genomics, molecular biology, microbial ecology, biostatistics, physiology, environmental toxicology and/or remote sensing/GIS. Tenure and advancement require effective teaching and development of a research program involving undergraduate students that leads to peer-reviewed publications and competitive grant applications. Opportunities exist for collaboration with faculty in Creighton’s professional schools and other local and regional entities involved in aquatic ecology and resource management such as the Nebraska Water Center, Nature Conservancy, Henry Doorly Zoo, and state and federal agencies. Faculty are also expected to embrace Creighton’s Jesuit values by providing advising for students and service to the department, college, university, and broader community. More information on this position and the Biology Department can be found at http://biology.creighton.edu/

Please contact Dr. Taylor with any questions. We will begin reviewing materials on September 13, 2021.
