Position Summary

The Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope is looking for a talented Staff Scientist to perform several functions as a member of the Analytical Pharmacology Core Facility. The primary role of this Staff Scientist will include operation of the liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) instrumentation available in the core. These efforts will include not only operating the instrument but also assay development, sample preparation, calibration, data analysis, data management/backup and routine maintenance/trouble shooting. In addition, this Staff Scientist will assist the director with the development and validation of new analytical methods for the quantitative analysis of large and small molecules in support of pharmacokinetic and biomarker investigations.

Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
  • Ph.D. or M.D/Ph.D. degree in Life Sciences or related discipline with a background within preclinical and clinical pharmacokinetic studies
  • Previous experience using LC-MS/MS instrumentation for quantitative analysis of large and small molecules.
  • Experience with Waters and/or AB Sciex instruments is especially desirable.
  • Other important skills include knowledge of analytical chemistry and experience with instrument controller software programs, like MassLynx® and Analyst®.
  • Knowledge of the principles of quantitative analysis and familiarity with the FDA's Biomedical Method Validation Guidance for Industry are also preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, documentation, and organizational skills, and a commitment to providing high-quality analytical chemistry services for users of the core facility are essential.
