The Gilead Business Services center in Raleigh's Research Triangle region will be home to some of the company's critical shared service teams in North America, including Information Technology, Global Financial Solutions, HR Operations and Procurement Services Desk. These functions provide the necessary support to ensure Gilead's business runs effectively and efficiently. The IT Security Solutions Architect is a key member of the Security Architecture and Governance team and works closely with various IT teams (ex: Security Engineering, Security Operations, Data Privacy, Infrastructure, Network) to provide guidance related to security architecture and controls and to identify, assess and manage information security risks. The person in this position will be required to understand information security domains, interpret, and communicate IT security requirements and controls and to be able to perform assessments to confirm what is addressed in a particular architecture or solution and identify potential gaps. This position requires the person to work with diverse teams within Gilead and to be able to work with them to identify and assess solutions that will ensure risk to the organization is maintained at an acceptable level.


  • Lead and/or support information security assessments including security architecture, software assessments and compliance.

  • Participate in the security exception review process.

  • Provide guidance to Gilead IT and business teams to ensure that project meet our security requirements and address the relevant controls.

  • Work with Gilead business partners to identify solutions that meet Gilead IT security requirements.

  • Ensure IT activities, processes, and procedures meet defined requirements, policies, and regulations

  • Participate in other activities relating to information security or other functional areas as assigned.

    Basic Qualifications: High School Degree and Twelve Year's Experience OR Associates Degree and Ten Years Experience OR Bachelor's Degree and Eight Years' Experience OR Masters' Degree and Six Years' Experience OR Ph.D.

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of cybersecurity professional experience, including security architecture concepts, and exposure to risk management, and governance practices.

  • Must be able to analyze enterprise business requirements to establish and drive security architecture solutions.

  • Research emerging security technologies and trends in support of security enhancement and development efforts.

  • Participate with team top develop IT Security Strategies, Standards, and contribute to the IT and IT security Roadmaps.

  • Create and deliver presentations to various stakeholders articulating the security strategies, architecture and roadmaps.

  • Lead security architecture implementation activities for new/existing shared security solutions.

  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of security technologies and the design of standard configurations/implementation patterns (reference architectures).
