Full Time Scientist 

The Leroy T. Canoles Jr. Cancer Research Center at Eastern Virginia Medical School is in search of a candidate to fulfill the duties of a full time Scientist position in the Center for Biomedical Proteomics. The ideal candidate will have at minimum, a Master’s degree in biomedical sciences or related field, plus five (5) years’ research laboratory experience. PhD holders are encouraged to apply.  Molecular biology, Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics experience is required and Bioinformatics Analysis expertise will be an added advantage. Experience with Thermo, ABSciex and Bruker Daltonics MS instrumentation and software including operating Orbitrap Fusion, Q-Exactive Orbitrap, Q-TRAP 4000 Triple Quadrupole and Ultraflex III Mass spectrometers is preferred.

This position will work under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator and should have expertise in molecular biology, biochemistry and macromolecular analysis techniques. Mass Spectrometry and Proteomic analysis experience is required. The position will be responsible for managing the operations of the proteomics laboratory, mass spectrometry analyses, method development, facility and instrument operations and maintenance and all associated transactions and reporting. Ability to multi-task in a highly dynamic environment and flexibility to work in a fast-paced team in a professional and pleasant manner is a necessity. 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills is required. Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.  Ability to write scientific and technical reports.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, researchers and other employees of the medical school.
