We seek to appoint two experts in developing novel machine learning methods with a strong focus on solving computational challenges for human health. This comprises, but is not limited to probabilistic machine learning, deep representation learning the integration of learning from simulations and realworld observations. Potential applications could include the analysis of disease dynamics in population co-horts, the prediction of molecule structures for drug development, the design of deep learning algorithms for biomedical imaging and diagnostic sensors, and the integration of multiomics data for precision medicine.

Scientific Environment

The tenured positions belong to the newly founded Institute of AI for Health that will be jointly coordinated by three directors. The institute is part of a thriving computational health environment at the Helmholtz Zentrum München and is going to be embedded in ELLIS Munich. An association with one of the Munich universities is intended.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated excellent achievements in applied machine learning research in an internationally recognized scientific environment. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification are prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad is expected.
