YOUR ROLE
  • Design, develop and support on-time commercialization of new colored adhesives for electronic device assembly.
  • Coordinate with internal adhesive development team to understand the adhesive performance requirements along with color target.
  • Self-starter with strong initiative and be able to work remotely with minimal guidance. Independently formulate different formulations to match the specific color target.
  • Work with external colorant/dispersant supplier to customize formulations and faster execution.
  • Work directly with the Henkel Commercial team and Henkel customers as the technical project lead to identify, qualify, close and maintain business.
  • Travel with Henkel Commercial team to develop first-hand understanding of customer's needs and application details.
  • Promote the use of Henkel technology through direct contact with customers and technical presentations before professional societies.
  • Effectively work in cross functional teams across different time zones with members from product development, project management, application engineering, process engineering, marketing and sales.
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork capability.
  • Understand state-of-art technology advancement and apply it to product development.
  • Generate new intellectual properties, including patents, publications and proprietary knowledge.
  • Actively search for new ideas and technology from within or outside.
  • Also encourages and motivates others to do the same. • Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Recognize sources of problems; absorb new information easily; expose gaps in logic and contradictions; develop effective solutions to technical roadblocks.
  • Develop innovative and creative chemistry and color matching formulations approaches to solve application issues and enhance product performance.
  • Perform all laboratory work in a safe manner and comply with all regulations, safety precautions, PPE requirements, and 5S processes.
  • Effective communicator.
  • Able to presents and communicate technical achievements to internal and external audience clearly.
  • Able to convey clear ideas and win buy-in from stakeholders.
  • Guide and mentor junior chemists and technicians as needed.
YOUR SKILLS
  • PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Sciences, Materials Science, or in any other related scientific areas, preferred but not required.
  • Significant experience (greater than 5 years) in colored product formulation and characterization is required.
  • Strong color matching skills and expertise with color matching software and spectrophotometers is required.
  • Experience with Pigments, Dyes, dispersing agents and grinding process is required.
  • Experience with adhesive formulations such as acrylates, polyurethanes, silicones, epoxy, BMI is highly preferred.
  • QC experience with colored product is preferred.
  • Candidate with M. S. or B. S. degree with track record of 5-10 years of successful color matching/colored product development activity in the relevant area may be considered.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are essential. • The ability to design and implement experiments is essential.
  • Professional laboratory skills essential.
  • The ability to work autonomously on multiple projects is essential.
