Site Name: USA - Pennsylvania - Upper Providence Posted Date: May 6 2021 We are seeking a highly productive and motivated bench scientist with a track record in developing highly sophisticated complex In Vitro Models. These can require organoid technology, applied bio-engineering and/or developing and incorporating microphysiological systems for drug development. The successful candidate will be responsible for seeking, developing, qualifying translational cellular models for higher throughput and lower throughput high complexity models. The candidate would join the Complex In Vitro Models (CIVM) team within In Vitro In Vivo translation (IVIVT) department in GSK's research organization at the Upper Providence site. CIVMs mission is to improve predictive and translational value of preclinical models. We strive to improve models for MOA, efficacy, safety and metabolism, aiming to assess these in the same systems whenever possible. The CIVM group closely collaborates with the research units, the medicinal science and technology (MST) organization and other IVIVT groups. The bench scientist will have the opportunity to work in Immunology based diseases and other disease areas. Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To Develop and apply complex in vitro assays including 3D patient derived organoids (PDO), PDX derived organoids (PDXOs) microphysiological systems, 3D bioprinting and organ-on-a-chip approaches for Innate and Adaptive Immunology, Oncology, liver and/or gut models. Routine maintenance and characterization of PDOs and PDXOs Development and application of advanced cellular models incorporating components of the immune system, and will participate primarily in the early profiling of drug candidates across different disease areas. Test the functional consequences of genetic variants in Organoid-based model systems using methods that include CRISPR-based gene editing technologies Perform cell-based assays in combination with imaging technologies on organoids to support small or large molecule and cell therapy drug programs. Work in a matrix team environment to ensure optimal delivery of project and department objectives to the highest possible scientific standard Independently execute laboratory experiments, apply advanced data analysis, integration and interpretation with an emphasis on providing appropriate context for data and experiments in order to progress programs and/or develop platforms Train lab personnel in Organoid Technology Why you?
