Computational Biologist/Bioinformatician position in Cellular and Molecular Biology

A computational biologist/bioinformatician position is available to work with Dr. Nagarjun Konduru in the Department of Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler. Dr. Konduru’s research focuses on lung responses to inhaled particulates and microbes. His studies extend from the deposition of inhaled particles in the respiratory tract to their clearance by respiratory defense mechanisms. Of particular interest is the role of lung macrophages in regulating inflammatory and immune responses. The context of these studies is the prevention and pathogenesis of environmental lung disease.

Computational biologist/bioinformatician will join the PI’s efforts to discover biomarkers in extracellular vesicles for early detection of lung diseases. The group leverages computational pipeline for biomarker discovery. The bioinformatician will work closely with the team members helping test his/her computational predictions. Applicant must have substantial experience with omics data analysis and statistics. Considerable experience applying computational tools to process and analyze large proteomic and genomic datasets as well as data related to single cell RNA-seq, is required. Experience developing algorithms to conduct statistical analyses is desired. Extensive knowledge and experience using network analysis such as Ingenuity Pathways, visualization tools such as Cytoscape etc is desired.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are desirable.
