Description
The laboratory of Dr. Andrew R. Marks, Chair, Department of Physiology and Cellular Biophysics at Columbia University Irving Medical Center, is seeking Postdoctoral Research Scientists (up to three positions available). Projects include: cryo-EM structures of RyR channels (with Nobel Laureate Joachim Frank and Wayne Hendrickson), calcium signaling in diabetes, engineering of nanosecond resolution channel recordings in planar lipid bilayers (with Ken Shepard from electrical engineering), molecular basis of inherited cardiomyopathies and heart failure, and calcium signaling in neurodegenerative diseases, drug discovery efforts to test novel therapeutics for heart, muscle, metabolic and CNS disorders. We are translating fundamental discoveries into ongoing clinical trials. Recent laboratory members have gone on to leading academic and pharmaceutical industry positions.
Qualifications
All applicants should have a PhD or MD/PhD, outstanding publications, oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, work ethic, and the ability to work independently. Competitive salaries and potential positions on our NIH funded T32 training grant available.
