Postdoctoral Research Associate
A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Shafi Kuchay in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics in the College of Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Our laboratory studies ubiquitin proteasome system (UPS), a protein degradation system, to uncover functional involvement of aberrant protein-turnover in disease such as cancer development and viral infections (see also Publications | Kuchay Laboratory). We are systematically investigating the mechanisms of ubiquitin regulated pathways operating at cell membrane compartments using unbiased and interdisciplinary approaches involving proteomics, biochemistry, molecular biology and genome editing.
We are embedded at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics at University of Illinois at Chicago, a rich intellectual environment with full integration into the large research communities in the Chicago area. The department provides a stimulating multidisciplinary environment for state-of -the-art research in developmental, cell, and cancer biology. For information about the department, please see www.uic.edu/com/bcmg.
Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:
(1) Highly motivated individuals with a Ph.D. (or Ph.D. candidates) in biology, biochemistry, cancer biology.
(2) First author publications in internationally recognized journals in the fields of biochemistry and molecular biology. Eexcellent writing and oral communication skills
(3) Previous experiences in mammalian cell culture, heterologous and recombinant protein expression, basic molecular and cell biology assays (WB, FACS, IF, cloning).
(4) Experience in genome editing (CRISPR/Cas), mouse genetics, mouse xenograft is preferable but not a must.
To apply, please email to kuchay@uic.edu
